I am lucky enough to be able to work with many young managers. By young I don’t always mean they’re actually “young” – often times it’s simply a new position. Truthfully young managers are one of the big reasons that I do what I do.
Think about it, have you been doing your job for so long that it’s just a routine? Sometimes you do it without even realizing it because it comes so naturally. Have you ever stepped back and taken the opportunity to observe the younger managers around you? Learn from their fresh perspective and renew your passion through their excitement.
I’m inspired today because I see managers all around me working hard, being extremely passionate about what they’re doing, and making a difference in people’s lives. Isn’t that what it’s all about? How do you make a difference in people’s lives positively? What I strive to achieve as a manager, mentor, and coach is to inspire others by living a healthy lifestyle, putting in hard work, and having an unwavering determination to make my personal life just as rewarding as my work life.
I have had a certain philosophy ingrained in my mind for many, many years: “work hard, play hard”. I interpret it as “strive to have work-life balance”. As I am inspired and my passion is fueled by the excitement of working with young managers, I never forget my philosophy of leading by example and showing young managers the path of a work life-balance. I guarantee if you can’t master this skill, it will be to your detriment. Not to be scary here but I feel that strongly.
If you ever need someone to talk to, to meet someone who’s “been there and done that” and can just listen to your situation with open ears and understand, please give me a call or send me an email.
